Northeast Minneapolis
Welcome To Northeast
The Northeast area is Minneapolis’s funky artistic heart. It is one of the oldest areas of the city where you can still find cobblestone streets and beautiful skyline views of downtown Minneapolis, which is just 10-minute walk away across Mississippi River on the Hennepin Avenue or Stone Arch bridges.
Northeast is home to some lovely family-friendly neighborhoods where gracious turn-of-the-century homes rub elbows with modern condos. You can also find smaller single-family and starter home here. The median home price is around $300,000, making Northeast one of the city’s more affordable areas.
Northeast, called “Nordeast” by some of the locals, is also home to Minneapolis’s sprawling Arts District. Hundreds of artists live and work in studios tucked into old industrial buildings. Many artists open their doors to visitors regularly throughout the year and each spring during Art-A-Whirl, the area’s biggest arts festival.
Northeast also features some great microbreweries, friendly dive bars, and delicious ethnic restaurants populating the Central Avenue and Hennepin Avenue corridors.
